Financial Stability Partnership (FSP)
Allthough work on these issues had been ongoing since 2003, Omaha's Financial Stability Partnership (FSP) was officially launched in January 2006. FSP is a collaborative venture between United Way of the Midlands (UWM) and the University of Nebraska at Omaha's College of Public Affairs and Community Service. United Way of American branded and launched the Financial Stability Partnership in May 2008. FSP is one of the Community Impact strategies of United Way of the Midlands.
MISSION
FSP provides financial assistance for clients through three strategies ---increase income, build savings, and gain and sustain assets. FSP focuses on these strategies through activities that include: workplace financial education; community awareness of issues; removal of obstacles through policy reform and implementing best practices; linking community resources and creation of effective, equitable financial products.
FUNDING
Funding for the Financial Stability Partnership is provided by the Lozier's Foundation, the Mammel Foundation, the Sherwood Foundation, United Way of the Midlands, Weitz Foundation and the William & Ruth Scott Family Foundation.

Julie Kalkowski, Director

Julie has spent the majority of her professional career working with families who earn subsistence wages. This work convinced her of the importance of helping families develop assets to enable them to get out and stay out of poverty. To provide opportunities for low-income people to develop assets, Julie helped establish the Microbusiness Development Program, the Women Mean Business Program, and the Individual Development Accounts Program in Omaha. Kalkowski's education includes a BA, in Psychology/Criminal Justice from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN and a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from UNO. Julie has served on both the Affirmative Action Committee and the Nebraska Commission on the Status of Women. Julie received the Alumni Award for Excellence in Public Service from UNO's College of Public Affairs and Community Service in 2002 as well as the Mary Lucretia Creighton Ministry to the Poor Award in 2004. She is currently the Managing Director for the Financial Stability Partnership (FSP) and serves on United Way of America's FSP National Taskforce.

Yolanda F. Brown is the Coordinator for Financial Stability Partnership. She obtained her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in Dallas, Texas in September 2007 and completed her Bachelors in Business Leadership from the College of St. Mary's in June 2003. Program creation and the service to help others is a focus area that Ms. Brown is passionate about. "I like to make a difference and see action for identified needs for people and the community." Yolanda has been involved over the years with a variety of community service initiatives such as National Council of Negro Women, Bridges to Success, Monmouth Park Neighborhood Association, District II Neighborhood Coalition, Mt. View Elementary PTA, OPS Accountability Board, African-American Achievement Council, Table Talks, Holy Name Housing Advisory Board, and Rahn-Harris Productions, and many other service areas.
